A third of the world’s population celebrate the biggest single event of the year. Chinese New Year (CNY) or lunar new year (LNY). Yet many marketers are unaware of the marketing opportunity LNY presents. Consider this: in a country like Vietnam, Christmas day is not even a public holiday but Lunar New Year (Tet) means one to two weeks off work.

Here in Australia, Lunar New Year will be enjoyed by Chinese, Vietnamese and other Australians of Asian origin from Tuesday 17 February 2026.
